Artists and media people working with Internet have recently started to pay more attention to the use of sound on Internet. Net audio and net radio are developing. Based on the idea about the acoustic space on Internet the workshop Acoustic.Cyberspace will make an introduction to the use of net audio technologies, in combination with tests with real-time net audio broadcasting.

The workshop will include a presentation of net art and net radio and bring up a discussion about the development of the media cultural network around the Baltic Sea. Another issue for discussion is the question of network communities based on national geographical structures versus on virtual ideas.

Arrangers are Rasa Smite, Raitis Smits and Janis Garancs from Latvian, an electronic art and media centre in Riga, which during 1997 established "Xchange" - a mailing list for alternative Internet broadcasters.
